VETERANS MEMORIAL PARK
300 BOULEVARD AVENUE
MONTGOMERY, MINNESOTA 56069
Veterans Memorial Park was created on April 18, 2011, during a regular meeting of the Montgomery City Council. The Council approved a resolution that city property on Boulevard Avenue (across from the police department) be established as a city park and designated as Veteran's Memorial Park. American Legion Post #79 will be responsible for developing and maintaining the memorial.
Mike Maxa, American Legion Commander, representing the American Legion, Ed Keogh, VFW Commander, and John Grimm, Veteran's project coordinator, addressed the council with the plan and proposal to utilize the city's vacant lot on Boulevard Avenue. The memorial was previously located at Montgomery-Lonsdale Elementary School West, and had to be relocated due to the building project at the school.
