George H. Ohmann, Jr., age 94 of Montgomery died Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Country Neighbors in Le Center.

George H. Ohmann, Jr., age 94 of Montgomery died Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Country Neighbors in Le Center. Visitation will be held at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery on Monday, January 17 from 4 - 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Funeral Services will be at St. John Lutheran Church on Tuesday, January 18 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Montgomery.

George was born in Eagan Township in Minnesota on September 16, 1916 to George August and Minnie (Heuer) Ohmann. He attended school in Eagan and was united in marriage to Dorothy May Fletcher on September 20, 1941 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagan. He joined the United States Army on November 3, 1943 and served until February 2, 1946. Upon his return home he worked for Fisher Construction and was a mechanic at his own garage for 50 years.

In his spare time, George enjoyed steam engines, gas tractors, sawmills, going to steam shows, anold time music. He also enjoyed flowers and bird watching.

George is survived by three daughters, Carol Jean & Robert Veness of Bloomington, Betty Ann & Don Heuer of New Prague, and Sandra & Armond Krech of Eagan; three sons, Donald & Ruth Ohmann of Eagan, Steve & Barbara Ohmann of Jordan, and Kevin Ohmann of Montgomery; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and four sisters, Florence O'Brien of West St. Paul, Marcella Schindeldecker of Farmington, Viola Le May of St. Mary's Point, and Darline & Harry Lehmann of Rosemount.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy; parents; two sisters, Emily Burow and Laverna Lehmann; and brother, Marvin.

Harold R. Kukacka, 1942-2011

Harold R. Kukacka, 68, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 6, 2011. Visitation will be held at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery on Wednesday, March 9 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Funeral Services will be at St. John Lutheran Church of Montgomery on Thursday, March 10 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Czech National Cemetery in New Prague with Military Honors provided by the Montgomery Area Veteran’s Honor Guard.

Harold was born in New Prague on June 27, 1942 to Louis and Lillian (Dejchmar) Kukacka. He graduated from Montgomery High School then served in the United States Army Reserves from January 1962 until August 1967. He married Sue Hughes at St. John Lutheran Church in Montgomery on January 12, 1985.

He worked for Harvestor (Silo) Construction for 35 years then worked on his own in farming and construction. Harold retired and then went back to work for Witt Construction in New Prague. Harold loved gardening, playing cards, listening to the radio, reading and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Susie of New Prague; sons, Harold Jr. of Montgomery, Brian of Le Center, and Jesse of New Prague; daughters, Tammy & Bryce Teply of Lonsdale and Crystal Kukacka and fiancé Dan of New Prague; three brothers, Clayton of Waseca, Joel of Heidelberg, and Leon of Le Center, two sisters, Lucy Connolly of Raymondville, Missouri and Lila Korbel of Huntingdon, Tennessee; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and loving companion, Watson.

Harold is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clarence & Jeff; and nephew, Leslie Max Kukacka.

Robert Frank Landkamer, 1937-2011

Robert Frank Landkamer, 73 of Montgomery, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato. Visitation will be held at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery on Friday, April 15, 2011 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church on Saturday, April 16 at 11:30 a.m. Military Honors will be provided by the Montgomery Area Veteran’s Honor Guard. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery at a later date.

Bob was born in Mankato, Minnesota on July 18, 1937 to Frank and Bertha (Heilman) Landkamer. He graduated from St. Peter High School then attended Mankato State University for Business. Bob served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from July 19, 1955 to June 26, 1959. He married Donna Larson in Anoka on October 3, 1960 and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last fall with their family. He worked for Murphy Finance for 8 years then was Assistant Vice President at Franklin National Bank for 7 years. He and Donna also owned and operated the Brass Rail in Montgomery for 25 years.

As an outdoorsman, Bob spent his free time fishing, hunting, boating, doing yard work and in his younger days, golfing. He also enjoyed playing cards, spending time with his grandchildren, and loved spending time with his family Up North. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and the Montgomery Legion Club.

Bob is survived by his wife, Donna; three daughters, Lisa Kalina & fiancé John Wolff of New Prague, Connie & Pete Flicek of Montgomery, and Bobbie & Eric Skluzacek of Lonsdale; 8 grandchildren, Kyle and Kelsey Kalina, Amanda, Tom, Mike and Emily Flicek, and Blake and Morgan Skluzacek.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Bertha.

Arthur E. Kukacka, 1920-2011

Arthur E. Kukacka, 91 of Montgomery, died Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Mala Strana Health Care Center in New Prague. Visitation will be held at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery on Sunday, April 17 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be at the funeral home on Monday, April 18 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Bohemian National Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Montgomery Area Veteran’s Honor Guard.

Art was born in Montgomery Township of Le Sueur County on January 26, 1920 to Frank and Mary (Heyda) Kukacka. He attended country school and served in the United States Army during World War II from December 7, 1944 until November 18, 1946. He married Rose Shetka and together they farmed in rural Montgomery. Art was a member of the Legion and VFW Clubs and enjoyed farming and occasionally fishing.

He is survived by his son, Richard & Mary Jo Kukacka of Montgomery; two grandsons, Kevin and Jason Kukacka; sister, Dorothy Flicek of Le Center; brother, Leo & Mary Kukacka of Hastings; sister-in-law, Louise Kukacka of New Prague; and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Art is preceded in death by his wife, Rose; parents; Frank and Mary Kukacka; two brothers, Raymond and Marvin Kukacka; and brother-in-law, Eddie Flicek.

George J. Picka, 1920-2011

George Joseph Picka, 90 of St. Paul, formerly of Lexington, died Saturday, August 13, 2011 at United Hospital in St. Paul surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be held at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery, MN on Tuesday, August 16 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Funeral Services will be at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at the Bohemian National Cemetery in Montgomery. Military Honors will be provided by the Montgomery Area Veteran’s Honor Guard. Memorials are preferred to the Disabled American Veterans and the St. Paul Heart Association.

George was born in Lexington Township of Le Sueur County, MN on December 11, 1920 to Frank Charles and Mary (Kudlik) Picka. He was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Le Center, attended country school and grew up in Lexington Township. George joined the United States Army on October 10, 1942 and served for 3 ½ years during WW II. He received many awards for his service including the Purple Heart and Two Bronze Stars. He served until December 9, 1945.

Upon his return to Minensota, George was united in marriage to Blanche Wondra at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Paul on November 27, 1946 and together they made their home in St. Paul for the next 64 years, raising three children.

George worked for Whirlpool in St. Paul for 35 years and enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, playing Euchre and spending time with his grand children and great grandchildren. He was a member of the VFW.

Surviving George, are his wife, Blanche of St. Paul; daugters, Katherine & Clayton Zimmerman of Arden Hills, Constance & Ronald Brastad of Rosemount; son, David & Kathy Picka of Mosinee, WI; four grandchildren, Kimberly & Adam Smith, Melinda & Daniel Parker, Michael Picka, and Mariah Picka; two great grandchildren, Kaia and Alton Smith; sisters, Margaret Wacker of Le Sueur and Bessie Reak of Montgomery; brother, Harry & Cathy Picka of Fairmont; sister-in-law, Laverna Picka of Le Center; and brother-in-law, Leonard Plonsky of Cannon Falls.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank and Edward Picka; and sister, Grace Plonsky.

George will be remembered as a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

James Michael Severns, 76, Montgomery, died Fri., Oct. 21, 2011 at his home.

James was born on August 29, 1935 in Winnebago MN to Frank and Alice (Stauffer) Severns.

He married Helen Puncochar on February 27, 1960 at Holy Redeemer Church in Montgomery. He worked on Road Construction and was a member of the local 49ers Mason. He later worked at McQuay in Faribault.

Visitation, Tuesday, Oct. 25, 10 am – 11:30 am, at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Funeral Service also Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 11:30 am, at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Montgomery.

Stanley Cihla, age 89, of Montgomery died Monday, December 19, 2011 at Central Health Care in Le Center. Stanley was born on October 25, 1922 in Erin Township to James and Christina (Kupka) Cihla. He worked at New Prague Egg and Waterville Sawmill.

He was a member of the Montgomery Legion and the Lonsdale VFW. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Stanley is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Milo Kadlec, 1928 - 2012

Milo Kadlec, 83, of rural Lonsdale, died at Minnesota Valley Health Care Center in LeSueur on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012.

Milo was born in Erin Township on July 19, 1928, to Frank and Katherine (Teply) Kadlec. He served in the US Army from 1950–1952. He married his first wife, Pauline Miller, in 1953 at St. John Lutheran Church in Montgomery. Pauline died in February of 1956. Milo married Phyllis (Pexa) Kadlec at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery on July 27, 1957. He worked as a farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; nine children, Elaine Kimmet, Le Center; Eileen Segna, Montgomery; Kathy Miller, Montgomery; David Kadlec, Lonsdale; Roger Kadlec, Montgomery; Cyntha Jakes, Montgomery; Jeff Kadlec, Lonsdale; Michael Kadlec, Montgomery; and Jenice Grundhoffer, Montgomery; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Grace Kuchinka, Faribault; Marcie Sticha, Faribault; and Mabel Dye, Cottage Grove. Milo is preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Pauline.

Steven Blaine Barta, 1959 - 2012

Steven Blaine Barta, 52 of Minneapolis formerly of Montgomery, died Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Hennepin County Medical Center. Funeral services will on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery, with military honors provided by Montgomery area veterans Honor Guard.

Steven was born April 11, 1959 in New Prague to Ben and Shirley (Meger) Barta.
He graduated from Montgomery-Lonsdale High School. He worked in a foundry and also did computer work.

Steven is survived by mother; Shirley Barta of Montgomery, sisters; Gretchen Barta of Faribault and Karen (Wade) Wiberg of Red Wing, brothers; Terry and (Ruby) Barta of Greenfield, Missouri, and Dale Barta of White Bear Lake.

He is preceded in death by his father Ben and sister Connie Barta.

William J. Stangler, 1929 - 2012

William "Bill" J. Stangler, 83, of rural Montgomery, died Friday, April 20, 2012 at his home.

William was born in Kilkenny Township on January 19, 1929, in the home of his parents Elmer Sr. and Matilda (Pittman) Stangler. He attended District #20 School, located on the Stangler farm, through the 8th grade. Bill worked on the family farm and then married Shirley Pomije at the Holy Redeemer Church in Montgomery on June 15, 1950. He enlisted in the National Guard 135th Infantry Division stationed in Faribault in 1948. In January 1951 the company was called up and members reported to Camp Rucker, AL until May 1952, when he was discharged with the rank of sergeant. On returning to Montgomery, Bill went to work for Layne MN Co. until 1967, when he and three others started their own company, the Kirkman Foundation Company in Lakeville. They drilled foundation holes for buildings, power lines, parking ramps, bridges and amusement parks from Florida to Canada and the East Coast to Pasco, WA. Some of the jobs included the IDS Tower in Minneapolis and the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, MO. Bill retired in 1989 and spent most winters with his wife enjoying Florida, Texas and Arizona until her death on May 6, 2000. He enjoyed card playing, hunting and fishing, and was a member of American Legion Post #79 and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by two sons Rocky (Carol) Stangler, Montgomery, and Scott Stangler, Minneapolis; granddaughters Sheri (Craig) Novotny, New Prague, Kim (Dan) Hrdlicka, Lakeville, Sally Stangler, Virginia Beach, VA, and Leslie Stangler, Minneapolis; great-grandchildren Kyle and Kaitlin Ellingsworth and Kali and Mason Hrdlicka; mother-in-law Emma Pomije, Montgomery; siblings Jerry (Ella John) Stangler, New Prague, Jim (Rita) Stangler, Kilkenny, and Rosie Mariska, Morristown; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and a brother Elmer Jr.

Funeral services were held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery on Tuesday, April 24, at 10 a.m.

Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery, with military honors provided by the Montgomery Area Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation was held from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery, and on Tuesday for one hour prior to the services.

William "Bill" Fred Washa, 1952 - 2012

William "Bill" Fred Washa, 60, of Montgomery, died Friday, May 25, 2012, of a heart attack at his home.

Bill was born March 6, 1952, a son of Roy and Julie Washa. He grew up in Montgomery, attended the Most Holy Redeemer Catholic School and graduated from Montgomery High School in 1970. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War era from 1971- 1975. He worked at Flint Ink in St Paul for 22 years and United Steel in Montgomery for seven years. Bill enjoyed helping friends, collecting music records, playing guitar, and feeding birds and squirrels.

He is survived by his parents; five brothers Bob (JoAnn), Battle Ground, WA, Roy Jr., Montgomery, Joe (Kim), Pine Island, Jim, Montgomery, and Steve (Jean), Shakopee; a nephew Michael Washa, Mountain Iron; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Memorial services will begin with visitation on Thursday, May 31, at 9 a.m., at the Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery, followed by the funeral Mass at 11 a.m.

Interment will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Washburn McReavy Funeral Homes.

Harold G. Miller, 89

Harold George Miller, 89, of Montgomery, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at his home.

Harold was born in Kilkenny on November 26, 1922, a son of William and Maude (Hackett) Miller. He married Mary Wintheiser on April 24, 1946, in Le Center. Harold worked as a police officer in Montgomery, and served as a member of the city council. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by 11 sons John Miller, Rice, David Miller, Keller, TX, Dan (Elaine) Miller, Le Sueur, Bill (Daria) Miller, Brea, CA, Steve (Kathy) Miller, Montgomery, Tim Miller, Cave Creak, AZ, Bob Miller, Corvallis, OR, Ken Miller, Fort Dodge, IA, Don (Missy) Miller, New Prague, Jim (Laurie) Miller, Montgomery, and Brian Miller, Edina, and one daughter Mary (Joe) Miller Fierro, Plymouth; 24 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; many step-grandchildren; and a sister Alice Cemensky.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and a grandson Brett.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 8, at 10 a.m., at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery.

Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Kilkenny, with military honors provided by the Montgomery Area Veterans Honor Guard.

Robert J. Ceplecha, 66, of Le Sueur, formerly of Montgomery, died Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at his home.

Robert was born on May 17, 1946, in New Prague to Joseph and Gertrude (Trcka) Ceplecha.

He married Elaine Prchal on November 29, 1966, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. He was enlisted in the United States Marines and served in the Vietnam War. He worked for Southern Communications in Waseca for 20 years.

Robert is survived by sons Roland (and Lori) Ceplecha of Montgomery, Joe (and Mary) Ceplecha of St. Peter and daughter Lori Procopio of Morristown NJ., brothers Roman (and Rosie) Ceplecha of Montgomery, Raymond (and Phyllis) Ceplecha and sister Janet (and Fritz) Kalina all of Lonsdale, and five step-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Elaine, sister Joyce Fierst and grandson Hunter.

Ray Dornfeld, 84, 1928 - 2012

Ray Dornfeld, 84, of Montgomery, died Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at St. Francis Regional Medical Center.
Ray was born on April 15, 1928, in Morton to Albert and Blanche (Drury) Dornfeld.

He married Lillian Haus on September 21, 1950 in Morton. He was enlisted in the United States Marines and served from 1946 to 1947 and in the United States Army and served from 1951 to 1952.

Ray was a member of the American Legion. He farmed near Lonsdale from 1967 to 1991. He enjoyed fishing, card playing with fellow Legion members, and farming.

Visitation is on, Saturday, October 13, 2012, from 8 am – 10 am, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Funeral Mass will also be at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery at 10 am, Saturday, October 13. Burial will be at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Lonsdale.

John D. Holtz, 88, 1924 - 2012

John D. Holtz, 88, of Montgomery, died Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Mala Strana Health Care Center in New Prague.

John was born August 4, 1924, in Derryane Township to John and Helen (Miska) Holtz. He went to country school, New Prague High School and served in the United States Army during WWII. John married Genevieve (Petricka) Holtz in 1951 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. He worked at the Montgomery Creamery and International Multi Foods in New Prague.
He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed gardening and wood working, especially making wishing wells, puzzling and the horse races.

Visitation, Monday, October 22, 2012 from 9am-11am, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Funeral service will also be Monday, October 22, 2012 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis following the funeral.

John is survived by wife Genevieve , children Pat Holtz of Ft. Burton Arnold Grimm, age 82, of Montgomery, died Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Mayo Systems New Prague. Visitation will be held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery on Friday, October 26, 2012 from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. The funeral service will also be at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery on Friday at 10:30 a.m. Burial is at Trebon Cemetery in Sheildsville.

Burton was born on April 3, 1930 on the family farm in Rice County to Frank and Carrie (Gustafson) Grimm. He attended country school and then mechanical school in Mankato. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1952. He Married Ludmilla (Novak) Grimm on March 17, 1951 at Fort Rucker, Alabama. Owned and operated Skelly Station with Clayton Novak (brother-in-law) from 1962-1977, at which time they built N&G Auto Repair and opened in 1977 where he worked as main mechanic until his retirement then mechanics became his hobby, along with fishing, woodworking, playing cards and spending time with family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. Burton was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by wife Ludmilla, children; Don (and Lorna) Grimm of Custer, SD., Diane (and Cary) Blank of Le Center, Carol (and Gary) Pelowski of Le Center, Darlene Filan of Montgomery, Jeff Grimm of Montgomery, Steve (and Mona) Grimm of Montgomery, Bruce (and Tara) Grimm of Arlington, and Regina (and Dave) Deutsch of New Prague, 29 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, siblings Erna (and Myron) Quamof Kenyon, Edna (and Alfred) Quam of Kenyon, Frank (and Darlene) Grimm of Arizona and sister-in-law Mary Grimm of Faribault.

Burton is preceded in death by parents, sisters; Dorothy (and Millard) Musegades, Evelyn (and Ralph) Witte, brother; Everett Grimm and grandson Jonathan Miller.

Robert G. Trinka Sr. 80, 1932-2012

Robert G. Trinka Sr. 80, of Montgomery, died Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at his home in Montgomery.

Robert was born October 8, 1932, in Faribault to James and Bessie (Hruska) Trinka. He served in the United States Army. He was united in marriage on December 24, 1953 to Betty A. (Shetka) Trinka at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Montgomery. He was a truck driver for Bryan Rock and was also a farmer.

He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed fixing things, fishing, smoking fish, listening to country western music, he wrote music and sang to his grandchildren and also played the guitar and accordion.

Visitation on Friday, November 9, 2012 from 4 pm – 8 pm, at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Funeral Service will be Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 11 am also at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home with visitation 1 hour prior. Burial will be at Bohemian National Cemetery in Montgomery.

Robert is survived by wife Betty, children Linda L. (and Adrian) Herrera of Montgomery, Robert G. (and Becky) Trinka Jr. of Hastings, and Peggy S. (and Creagg) Steinhouse of Lonsdale, 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Ray M. Dietz, 87, 1925-2012

Ray M. Dietz, 87, of Montgomery, died Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Villages of Lonsdale in Lonsdale.

Ray was born October 31, 1925, in Montgomery to William and Mary (Kalal) Dietz. He served in the United States Army as a legal clerk from 1946 to 1947. He was united in marriage on November 11, 1947 to Bonnie (Bazil) Dietz at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. He was a farmer, worked in manufacturing for different business throughout the area and was also a real estate agent for Century 21.

He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Eagles, Moose, Lions and the Polka Lovers Club of America. He enjoyed golfing especially with his son Wayne, watching sports, snowmobiling, polka music and bowling.

Visitation, Saturday, November 17, 2012 from 9 am – 11 am, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Funeral Service will also be Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 11 am at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery.

Ray is survived by wife Bonnie, children; Sandi (and Randy) Kurth of Owatonna, Mary (and John) Lamps of LaSalle, IL., Jim (and Harriet) Dietz of Faribault and Wayne (and Jeri) Dietz of Forest Lake, 14 grandchildren, 2 great-granddaughters and 1 great-great grandson, and sister Carolyn Dvorak of Montgomery.

Edward Drentlaw, 87, 1925-2012

Edward Drentlaw, 87, of Montgomery, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at the Minnesota Valley Health Center in Le Sueur.

Ed was born on February 15, 1925, in Northfield, a son of Edwin and Mathilda (Wutschke) Drentlaw. He attended Northfield schools through 7th grade, and during his younger years worked on various farms. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944. Ed married Helen Kaderlik on June 30, 1947, in Faribault. After their marriage the couple moved to St. Paul and he worked at the St. Paul Foundry. They moved to Montgomery in 1951, and he worked at Polar Panel and retired from United Steel in 1991. He was a wood craftsman and loved to dance and play cards. Ed was a member of the VFW Post in Montgomery.

He is survived by his wife; children Connie White (Bernie) Tupy, Montgomery, and Kenneth (Peggy) Drentlaw, Green Isle; four grandchildren Annette White, Jeremy (Anita) Drentlaw, Jason Drentlaw and Jacob (Greta) Drentlaw; two step-grandchildren Dustin (Jodi) Michaelis and Randi (Scott) Perschau; three great-grandchildren Anna, Emily and Mikayla; and siblings Doris Christopherson, Betty Robinson, Marlys Proehl and Earl, Charles, Lester and James Drentlaw.

He was preceded in death by son-in-law Leon White; brother-in-law Francis Kaderlik; and siblings Viola Gillespie, Donald and Roger Drentlaw, and two in infancy.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, Nov. 26, at 10:30 a.m., at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery, with Rev. George Grafsky officiating.

Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery, with military rites conducted by the Montgomery Area Veterans Honor Guard. Casketbearers were Kenneth Drentlaw, Jeremy Drentlaw, Jason Drentlaw, Jacob Drentlaw, Bernie Tupy and Maynard Kaderlik.

Visitation was held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Keohen Memorial Funeral Home in Montgomery, and Monday at the church one hour prior to the service.

Dana Allen Derhaag, 62, 1950-2013

Dana Allen Derhaag, 62 of Northfield, formerly of Montgomery died Thursday, January 2, 2013 at his home.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. A private family burial will be at a later date.

Dana was born on November 2, 1950 to Adrian and Verna (Laabs) Derhaag, went to Chaska High School and served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by Kathy Derhaag of Montgomery, children; Wendy Derhaag and Wayne Derhaag both of Montgomery, grandchildren; Chase, Tate & JoRae Derhaag and sister Lollie Weaver of Florida.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Donny, Steve and Paul Derhaag.

Emil E. Svoboda, age 87, of Montgomery, died Friday, January 4, 2013 at St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault, MN. Visitation will be January 10, 2013 from 4:00 p.m.– 7:00 p.m. at Schoenabuer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Emil was born on March 6, 1925 in Montgomery to Frank and Mary (Kaderlik) Svoboda. He attended St. Raphael’s Parochial school in Montgomery. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Worked at the flour mill in New Prague. Emil was a member of the Montgomery American Legion. He enjoyed old time music, watching sports and gardening.

He is survived by sisters; Lavonne (and Bob) Olson of Grand Junction, Colorado and Lorraine Young of Mahtomedi, MN, sister-in-laws Lee Svoboda of Montgomery and Lois Svoboda of Chisago City, MN, and nieces and nephews.

Emil is preceded in death by his wife Ellen Svoboda, his parents, brothers Leonard Svoboda and Leo Svoboda and sister Elanor Kline.

Willard Hamlin, 87, 1925-2013

Willard Hamlin, age 87, of Montgomery, died Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Mayo Systems New Prague. A private family visitation, service and burial will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2013.

Willard was born on August 20, 1925 in Warroad, MN to Bruce and Laura May (Brandli) Hamlin. He served in the United States Army in WWII and Korea. He was united in marriage to Joan (Paulson) Hamlin in Northwood, IA on July 28, 1958. Willard worked many jobs including as a mechanic and heavy equipment operator also worked for Marvin Windows and Doors and Winco in Le Center. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He is survived by wife Joan Hamlin, sons; David Hamlin of Montgomery, Rick Hamlin of Farmington, IA, Budd Hamlin of Jensen Beach, FL, Lowell Petersen of Roseau, MN and daughter Vicky, 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Willard is preceded in death by parents, 1st wife, infant daughter Deborah, brothers; John Hamlin, Raymond Hamlin, Hubert Hamlin and Robert Hamlin, sisters; Louis Hamlin and Luella Ploof.
