Joseph Thomas Speikers Jr, 1923-2009
Joseph Thomas Speikers Jr., 86, of Montgomery, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, at the Lodge on Natchez in Elko-New Market.
Joseph, a lifetime resident of Montgomery, was born on June 26, 1923, a son of Joseph F. and Mary (Lestina) Speikers Sr. on June 26, 1923. He attended St. Raphael’s Catholic School and graduated from Montgomery High School. Joe served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1946, and was aboard the USS Hancock during the Philippine Invasion. He married Adeline Kline at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Montgomery, in 1948. They later divorced. He then married Delores Becker in 1961, and they were later divorced. He did masonry work in the Montgomery area and retired from Munsingwear. Joe enjoyed reading, being with friends, and chocolates.
He is survived by his children, Sherri (Tony) Olson of La Crosse, WI, Sandie (Shorty) Deutsch of Montgomery, Danny (Julie) Speikers of Duluth, David (Sarah) Speikers of Duluth and Duane (Becky) Speikers of Waseca; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Marietta “Toots” Kukacka of Montgomery.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother Ben Speikers.Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home, Montgomery, with military honors provided by the Montgomery Area Veteran’s Honor Guard.
Private burial will be at Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

William T. Dvorak, 1926-2009
William T. Dvorak, 82, of Montgomery, died at his home on Sunday, September 27, 2009.
A son of Wenceslaus "Jim" and Sophia (Rynda) Dvorak, Bill was born on March 14, 1926, in Montgomery. He attended St. Raphael's Parochial School and graduated from Montgomery High School. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served until 1946, during World War II. Bill married Carolyn Dietz at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery on June 24, 1947, and worked as a rural mail carrier in Montgomery for 33 years. He enjoyed farming, visiting, fishing, hunting, cutting wood, dancing, the outdoors, and most of all being a caregiver and his family.
He is survived by his wife; children Faye (John) Ryden, Minneapolis, Roger (Dianna) Dvorak, Le Center and Kurt Dvorak, Montgomery; eight granchildren Mike, Andy, Kelli, Anna, Marie Claire, Nicole, Kyle and Gen; great-granchild Nathan; brothers Earl Dvorak, Bloomington, Robert Dvorak, Montgomery and Don "Moe" (Mercedes "Babe") Dvorak, Prior Lake; sister-in-law, Lorraine "Tiny" Dvorak, Montgomery; and brother-in-law John Haupt.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers Lyle, Jim, Clarence and Clayton; and a sister Janet Haupt.
Funeral services will be held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 1 p.m.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery, with military honors provided by the Montgomery Area Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Archie W. Mikiska, 1915-2009
Archie W. Mikiska of Apple Valley, formerly of Montgomery, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. John Lutheran Church, Montgomery. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Military honors are being provided by the Montgomery Area Veteran’s Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Schoenbauer Funeral Home of Montgomery and one hour prior to the services Friday at the church.
He was born to John and Mary (Wrabek) Mikiska in Lanesburg Township on Feb. 24, 1915. He entered the United States Army on July 20, 1942, and served during World War II until Jan. 8, 1946. He married Marie Oelrich in St. Cloud on June 22, 1946. Together they farmed in the Montgomery area. He also drove truck for Le Sueur County and was the Clover Leaf milkman. His wife preceded him in death in 2001.
He is survived by his children, Mark Mikiska of Lakeville, Brad Mikiska of Farmington, Aaron Mikiska of New Prague and Sherry Shuss of Apple Valley; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Raymond Albert Prochaska, 1922-2009
Raymond "Ray" Albert Prochaska, 87, of Montgomery died Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at Mala Strana Health Care Center in New Prague.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Nov. 23 at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Montgomery. Burial will be at St. Scholastica Church Cemetery in Heidelberg. Military Honors will be provided by the Montgomery Area Veteran’s Honor Guard.
Ray Prochaska was born in rural New Prague on May 4, 1922, to James and Dorothy (Weiers) Prochaska. He joined the Navy in 1942 and served during World War II until 1946. Upon returning home, he married Dorothy Laban on Oct. 16, 1948, at St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Heidelberg. He farmed in Heidelberg for 20 years then moved to Montgomery in 1970. He was a member of the American Legion Club.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Raenell Dorn of Eden Praire, Gordon Prochaska of Montgomery, Rod Prochaska of Montgomery, Darlene Walsh of Prior Lake, Marlene Prochaska of Shoreview and Mike Prochaska of New Prague; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Francis C. Dolejs, 1937-2009
{C}{C}Francis Cyril "Fritz" Dolejs, 72, of Apple Valley, formerly of Montgomery, died at his home on Friday, Dec. 4, 2009.
Born on a farm in Montgomery on July 22, 1937, Fritz was a son of Frank and Lillian Dolejs. He attended Montgomery High School and went on to attend St. John's University, where he participated in ROTC. He married Patricia Burns in 1958 and began working in the family business, Mobil Oil Company, in Montgomery. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Adult Choir at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Fritz was a well respected and successful businessman. Red Lion Liquors in Burnsville, Red Lion in Montgomery, Northbound Municipal in Elk River, Shamrock Liquors in Cottage Grove, Shenanigan's Pub and She- nanigan's Fine Wine and Spirits in Rosemount were all successful under his ownership or management. He was on the board for the Minnesota Municipal Licensed Beverage Association and active in the MLBA. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, card games and travel. He loved spending time with friends, whether at the cabin, in Arizona, camping, or vacationing. Fritz cherished his family and friends, his Catholic faith and his Czech heritage.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years; children Kyle, Shannon (Tom) Allen, MaryBeth Poole, Sarah and Tina (Dan) Ruzicka; grandchildren Patty, David, Megan, Ryan, Matt, Eric and Michaela.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Vernon and Donald; son Michael; grandson Robert Allen; and father-in-law Robert Burns.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 9, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Military Honors were provided by the Montgomery Area Veteran’s Honor Guard.
Visitation was held from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery.
Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery.

Alvin Franke, 1919-2009
Alvin "Butch" Franke, 90, of Montgomery, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at Mala Strana Health Care Center in New Prague.
Butch was born in Montgomery on May 14, 1919, a son of Emil and Mary (Zaspel) Franke. He attended St. Raphael's Parochial School and graduated from Montgomery High School in 1937. After high school he worked at his parents' bakery until 1942, when he joined the U.S. Army and worked as a Medic in the 703rd Anti-Airborn Unit. He served during WWII in China, Burma and India until his discharge in 1945. Upon his return to the states, Butch attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis for baking and Wilton Cake Decorating School in Chicago. He then returned to Montgomery and took over Franke's Bakery. He married Julitta Hartman at St. Benedict Church on May 4, 1957. Butch and Jule were the current owners of Franke's "Kolacky" Bakery, where he continued to work until a year ago when he became ill. He enjoyed greeting people in the store and telling them stories about Montgomery. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the VFW and American Legion, Minnesota Bakers Association, Mobilize Montgomery, the Heritage Center, and was a retired member of the Montgomery Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife; children Bob (Nancy) Franke, Jordan, Kathy Schatz, Apple Valley, Jean Franke, Montgomery and Becky (Chad) Haraldson, Apple Valley; 10 grandchildren Joel (Nikki), Craig (Ashley), Lindsey, Jackie, and Ashley Franke, Kacey, Emily and Derek Schatz, and Rachel and Nathan Haraldson; two great-grandchildren Kiylah Franke and Justice Makerell; and three sisters Helen Mickus, Golden Valley, Ardelle Huntington, Sequin, TX and Tatsy (Don) Gorden, San Antonio, TX; and aunt Helen Schmidt, St. Paul. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery on Friday, Dec. 11, at 10:30 a.m. Military Honors were provided by the Montgomery Area Veteran’s Honor Guard. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery.
Visitation was held at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m., with a Knights of Columbus prayer service at 8 p.m.

Thomas Eugene Peek, 1925-2010
Thomas Eugene Peek, 84, of Montgomery, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.
Visitation will be held at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery on Friday, Jan. 29 from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 10 a.m. Military Honors will be provided by the Montgomery Area Veteran’s Honor Guard. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Waseca at a later date.
Thomas was born in Janesville, Minn., on Oct. 13, 1925, to Vernon and Marguerite (Brown) Peek. He attended country school and joined the United States Army on March 15, 1944. Thomas proudly served in World War II until May 2, 1946. He was in many of the major battles and received two Purple Hearts. He was united in marriage to Harriet Andersen in New Richland, Minn., on May 8, 1947. Together they raised seven children.
Thomas worked for the city and county of Waseca, the Minnesota Department of Transportation in Waseca then transferred to Montgomery in 1959. He also worked for Green Giant, City of Montgomery, and De Borough Manufacturing in Bloomington. He retired in 1979 and enjoyed reading, and was a lifetime member of the VFW and DAV.
He is survived by his wife, Harriet of Montgomery; six children, Kathy and Steve Peek of Montgomery, Bob Peek of Farmington, Dan Peek of New Prague, and Patty and Julie Peek of North Mankato; three sisters, Marcella Radke of Minnetonka, Jean Fox of Waseca, and Shirley Dahnert of Waseca; and one grandchild, Tony Peek.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary; three brothers, Walter, Earl and Judd Peek; and two sisters, Irene Webber and Vivian Johnson.

Ben T. Barta, 1934 - 2010
Ben T. Barta, 75, of Montgomery, died Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault.
Born October 6, 1934, in Wheatland Township, Rice County, Ben was a son of Ben A. and Anna (Schoenbauer) Barta. He attended country school and the Lonsdale Catholic School and received his GED in 1957. He married Shirley Meger on April 30, 1957, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Le Center. He served in the U.S. Army and farmed until 1990, later working in real estate and having his own musical group, the well-known Ben Barta Band. He was an excellent musician and an avid fisherman. Ben was a member of Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post #79 and the Wheatland Twin Lakes Sportsman's Club.
He is survived by his wife; children Steve Barta, Minneapolis, Gretchen Bultman Barta, Faribault, Terry Barta, Greenfield, MO, Karen (Wade) Wiberg, Red Wing, Connie Barta, Rochester and Dale Barta, White Bear Lake; three grandchildren Riley Barta, Melissa Barta and Justin Bultman; great-grandson Aidan Bultman; a brother Stanley (Ruth) Barta, Montgomery; sisters Mary Ann Maruska, New Prague, Ann (Marvin) Schaak, New Prague and Angie (John) Havlicek, New Prague; and sister-in-law Darlene (Danny) Ryan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister in infancy; brother-in-law Edward Maruska; and sister-in-law Florence Campbell.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, Feb. 17, at 11:30 a.m., at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery.
Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery, with military rites by the Montgomery Area Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Keohen Memorial Funeral Home in Montgomery, and also at the funeral home one hour prior to the services on Wednesday.

John F. Hartley, 1920-2010
John F. Hartley, 89, of Montgomery, died Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, surrounded by his family.
John was born in New Albin, IA, on October 11, 1920. He grew up in the small town, where his father taught him the Morse Code while in high school, preparing him to be a railroad station agent. John married Marie Hosting in Calmar, IA. He served in the military at the railroad center in Garmish, Germany during World War II. John and Marie raised their family in another small midwestern town, Adams, MN. He was very active in supporting the young people in that community by using his position in managing the American Legion to help raise money for the town's first American Legion baseball team, a community swimming pool and sponsoring after-prom dances. In 1967, John was transferred to railroad assignments in and around Montgomery, where they resided. In his younger days, John was an accomplished bowler, winning many state competitions. He was also a fisherman and hunter.
After retirement, he took up the game of golf and scored a hole-in-one at the Montgomery Golf Course. Golf led John and Marie to spend increasing time in Arizona, where they spent six months of each year. John was a member of the Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, VFW, American Legion, Eagles and Elks clubs.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marie; children, Karen (Richard) Foy, Mary (Jan) Sires and John (Kathy) Hartley Jr.: five grandchildren, MacKenzie, Alexandra, Jack, Kiersten and Erin; five great-grandchildren, Katie, Joshua, Emma, Parker and Harrison; and a sister, Bette Moen. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Peter.
Mass of Christian Burial is Saturday, Feb. 20, at 11:30 a.m. at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Military rites by the Montgomery Area Veteran’s Honor Guard at the church. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in New Albin, IA at a later date. Visitation will be one hour before the services on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Legion Post 146 for youth baseball activities.

Woodrow H. Trinka, 1918-2010
Woodrow “Woody” Henry Trinka, 91, of Montgomery, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Central Health Care Center in Le Center.
Woody, the son of Frank and Rose (Novotny) Trinka, was born on July 15, 1918, in New Market. He attended country school near Montgomery and Montgomery Pulblic Schools. He entered the United States Air Corps on April 11, 1942, and served during World War II until Feb. 20, 1946. He married Dorothy Nerud at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church on Sept. 30, 1950. He delivered milk for Nelson Dairy for 28 years and worked as custodian at Citizens State Bank of Montgomery for 35 years. He also worked for Ralph Erickson, Alexander Road Construction and Ruhland Electric. During his spare time, Woody enjoyed gardening, fishing, dancing and telling jokes. He was a life member of the VFW Post 5340, a member of American Legion Post #79 and the Monty Snowbusters Snowmobile Club.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughter, Renee Koch of Cleveland; sons, Rick Trinka of Alexandria and Randy Trinka of Savage; nine grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; brothers, Alvin Trinka of Waukegan, Ill., Clarence Trinka of Webster and Francis of Waconia; and a sister, Lorraine Corneleis of Owatonna. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Tony, and sisters Irene Keski and Helen Pasek.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 15, in Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Montgomery. John W. Kline, 1935-2010
John W. “Jack” Kline, 74, of Montgomery, died Monday, March 8, 2010, at Mala Strana Health Care Center in New Prague.
Jack was born in Montgomery on March 20, 1935, a son of Adolf and Mable (Novotny) Kline. He served in the United States Army from Oct. 1, 1953, to Sept. 15, 1956. After returning from the Army, Jack married Donna Schultz and they farmed near Montgomery.
He is survived by sons Lyle and Perry Kline, both of Faribault; half brother Alvin (Gladys) Kline, Elysian; and friend Rita Way, Montgomery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Tracie, and brothers Jim and Ivan Kline.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16 at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Military Honors provided by the Montgomery Area Veteran’s Honor Guard. Burial will be at Bohemian National Cemetery in Montgomery in the spring.

Martin “Marty” Ceminsky, 86, of Montgomery, died Thursday, March 25, 2010, at Central Health Care Center in Le Center.

Marty was born in Lexington Township of Le Sueur County on May 1, 1923, to Martin and Frances (Trezinsky) Ceminsky. He attended country school, then entered the United States Army on Oct. 1, 1943, and served until Jan. 24, 1946. He was united in marriage to Harriet Fitzpatrick at Holy Redeemer Church in Montgomery on Feb. 1, 1947. Together they farmed near Montgomery. Marty also worked for Green Giant and Murphy Motor Freight.
Marty is survived by nephews, Michael and Deb Barten of Eagle Lake and Tom and Deb Barten of Mankato; nieces, Laurie and Wally Kangas of Shakopee and Sharon Johnson of Mankato.
He is preceded in death by his wife and parents.

John J. Pelowski, 83, of Le Center, died at his home on Tuesday, June 22, 2010.
John was born in Lexington Township, Le Sueur County on June 25, 1926, a son of John S. and Mary (Miska) Pelowski. He attended country school in Lexington Township, and then served in the United States Navy from October 11, 1944, until June 29, 1946. He married Phyllis Koralesky on June 24, 1950, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lexington Township. John farmed and did carpentry work. He was a member of the Le Center VFW and the Montgomery Knights of Columbus. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry, refinishing furniture and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife; children Michael (Debbie) Pelowski, Le Sueur, Gary (Carol) Pelowski, Le Center and Lynn (Gary) Heinzig, Montgomery; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; a brother William (Hedi) Pelowski, Montgomery; and sister-in-law Rosie Pelowski, Lexington.
He was preceded in death by a son, Charles John; his parents; a brother, Anthony; and sister, Mary Ann Schanus.
Funeral services were held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery on Friday, June 25, at 10:30 a.m. Burial was at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lexington. Military honors were provided by the Montgomery Area Veteran’s Honor Guard.

Michael F. Dvorak, 1948-2010
Michael Francis Dvorak, age 61, of Montgomery, passed away with peacefulness, courage, and dignity on July 7 after living with pancreatic cancer for four years. He passed at his home in the arms of his wife and children.
Michael was the son of William and Teresa (Lubbers) Dvorak, and was born on October 15, 1948 in New Prague.
Mike is survived by his wife, LuAnn; children Jennifer (Peter) Meeh, Michael (Kristina) Dvorak; seven grandchildren Alexe Dvorak, Brandon Lais Dvorak, Hanna Dvorak, Emma Meeh, Sofia Meeh, Max Meeh and Madeline Meeh; mother Teresa Dvorak; brothers and sisters Diane Hertaus, Bill (Mae) Dvorak, Mary (Tom) Kellen, Chuck Dvorak, Ken Dvorak, Mark (Linda) Dvorak, Tom Dvorak; Brother in Law Scott (Pam) Filipek; More than 60 Nieces and Nephews, and his faithful dog Rufus.
Mike attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School in New Prague. He graduated from New Prague High School in 1966. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Mankato State University in 1970. Mike was a Sgt. in the U.S. Army for two years after college serving at Ft. Riley, KS. He instructed non-commissioned officers in map orientation.
At the age of 10, he started his own paper route. He was the organizer of all the neighborhood kid baseball and football games. He loved sports as a child and followed baseball and football closely. He collected cards like his favorite player Eddie Matthews and became a lifelong Green Bay Packer fan. Through hard work and imagination he would create model train landscapes.
As a teenager he worked summers at Green Giant (University) in Mont-gomery. It was during this time he met LuAnn Filipek. They canned vegetables and fell in love. Mike had a lifelong devotion to LuAnn, and together they created a loving caring family.
Mike taught high school religion, was president of PTA and chairman of the Fall Festival. He built the wooden swing set at the Holy Redeemer School. He had a long distinguished career in the Insurance industry. He earned his CSP and CPCU accreditations.
Mike was passionate about his music collection. He traveled the country for concerts and to collect classic vinyl. He once went to 30 concerts in a weekend and developed a music collection that would rival most library's. He had it all: vinyl, 8-track, cassette, CD's and an I-pod that he synced with his computer. He had music from 1950's/ '60s classic rock, folk, country through to today's contemporary hits. He loved creating various mixes and would make many copies to give to family and friends. His last mix was for daughter's dance studio.
He enjoyed traveling extensively with his wife LuAnn. He and LuAnn enjoyed exploring the regional flavors of America in more than 40 states, including white water rafting in Alaska, the hula in Hawaii, Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Memphis- Graceland and Sun Records, Biltmore Ashville, NC, California's pacific coast Highway and chowder in Boston. Mike and LuAnn loved exploring America together.
Mike became famous for his trips to Menards. He amassed a large collection of tools and was passionate about various remodeling efforts. He acquired his inspiration from his many trips with LuAnn to antique and salvage stores.
Mike played the board game Risk for more than 30 years. This was a continuous game that was conducted monthly with various family members. This was a special time for Mike to bond with his family. He always strived to become the "Risk champion of the world," and he often was.
Mike's greatest legacy is the family he created and adored.
Visitation was held at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery on Monday, July 12, 2010, from 3:30 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 13 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery at 10 a.m. Military honors were provided by the Montgomery Area Veteran’s Honor Guard. Burial was held at Calvary Cemetery of Montgomery.

Donald J. Flicek, 1938-2010
Donald Julius Flicek, 72, of Waterville, formerly of Montgomery, died peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born at home in New Prague on September 10, 1938, a son of Edward and Esther (Zvanovec) Flicek Sr. He attended New Prague schools, graduating with the class of 1957. He enlisted with the Army Reserves, and in 1958 joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served until 1963. Don married Ellen Rauschke at St. John Lutheran Church in Montgomery on December 14, 1963. He was employed as a foreman for Bryan Rock Products in Shakopee for 36 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Montgomery, American Legion Post 79, VFW Post 5340, Local 49er's, Waterville Bowling Association, and served for many years as a secretary for the Montgomery Bowling Association. Don enjoyed the outdoors, taking yearly trips up north, fishing, bowling, gardening and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered for his contagious smile, his jesting ways, his ever-helping hands and his love of life and family.
He is survived by his wife; children Tammy (Scott) Plonsky, Chris (Todd) Reak, Grace (Paul) Sawatzky and Andrea Flicek (friend Pat Doran), all of Montgomery; grandchildren Jack and Allie Plonsky, Brianna and Brandilyn Reak, Tyler, Quinton and Olivia Sawatzky and Madeline and Nicholas Novotny; his mother; sister Julia (Bernie) Busch Sr., Jordan; mother-in-law Lorraine Cemensky, Waterville; brother-in-law Newell (Karen) Rauschke, New Prague; sisters-in-law Dorothy Flicek, Le Center, Laurie (Wally) Callenius, Shakopee and Bonnie Rauschke, Le Sueur; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; and brothers George and Edward Flicek Jr.
A celebration of life service was held at noon Saturday, Oct. 23, at St. John Lutheran Church in Montgomery, with Pastor Joy Bussert officiating.
Interment with military rites by the Montgomery Area Veterans Honor Guard, and a Spirit Dove release was held at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Montgomery. Urn bearers were Gilbert Jabs, Bernie Busch Sr., Newell (Red) Rauschke and Wally Callenius.
Visitation was held Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon at the church. Arrangements were with the Keohen Memorial Funeral Home in Montgomery.

George R. Malecha, 1925-2010
George R. Malecha, 85, of Princeton, formerly of Montgomery, died on Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina.
Memorial Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the church. Military rites, by the Montgomery Area Veterans Honor Guard, will follow the Mass outside of the church. Interment will be at a later time at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Montgomery. Arrangements are by Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery.
He was born on March 2, 1925, to Joseph and Mary (Simon) Malecha in Veseli, Minn. He entered the United States Marine Corps in 1944 and served in the South Pacific during World War II. He married Ludmilla “Ludy” Hruby at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church on Nov. 25, 1946. He worked with International Multifoods in New Prague as a machinist for 39 years. In 1999 the couple moved to Northfield for a short time before retiring in Princeton. He was active with the American Legion and VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Ludy; children, David Malecha of Flagler Beach, Fla., Ron Malecha of Kasson, Connie Shriver of Montgomery, Debbie Stasney of Montgomery and Terry Malecha of Princeton; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, John Malecha of Hopkins.
