Diane DeWitte, the chairman of the evangelism committee for St. John Lutheran Church, accepts a check for $300 from the Montgomery American Legion Post 79 representatives Paul Vollmar and Charles Richter.  Each year the committee puts together Christmas packages for active duty military personnel from the community.

"We currently have 11 soldiers for whom we pray each Sunday, and who we will mail 'care packages' at holiday time," said DeWitte.

The chairman also added that the committee is accepting cash donations, as well as the names and addresses of local active duty military personnel.

"I'm sure there are more out there, and we have enough items donated to enable use to send ANY soldier from our area a package in December," DeWitte said.  To submit a name, call the church at 507-364-5002.
